Post 54 CONTINUING WITH EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE SELF AWARENESS

Emotional intelligence can be divided into five elements: awareness of
self, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. All of them very important and to develop emotional intelligence it is convenient to go step by step, and start with self awareness. To do this, we will first talk about the primary and secondary emotions
PRIMARY EMOTIONS
The primary emotions are those that feel first. The emotions that with
most often considered primary are: fear, sadness, surprise and happiness.
An example of a primary emotional response is the fear a person feels
when he faces a situation where he is surprised or threatened. The answer
Primary sadness is often felt when a person receives news of
a death or other tragic event. These initial responses cannot be
control. They are evolutionary and everyone feels them regardless of their
cultural experience
Frequently, after a brief burst of primary emotion,
feelings change, soften or evolve into something else.
SECONDARY EMOTIONS
Secondary emotions are feelings that develop from
initial or primary emotions or are combined with these. There is an extensive list
of secondary emotions. Some of them are: anger, frustration, disappointment,
humor, satisfaction or joy.
Primary emotions can also be secondary emotions. By
example, when a person is surprised by a friend, it is likely that their
first reaction be the primary emotion of fear, closely followed by another
Primary emotion: happiness.
Each person has the ability to control or mitigate secondary emotions.
 UNDERSTANDING EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE OF YOURSELF
The importance of understanding both primary emotions and
Secondary is knowing how emotional responses affect you
as a person. Recognize what you can control or change and what you are not
able to modify is an important step for the development of intelligence
emotional. This type of recognition is also a primary component of
self awareness.
